Why Transition?

The value of a resilient community is that it significantly maximises the use of local people, businesses and resources to meet our own towns diverse range of needs: water, soil, food, health, energy, housing, materials, transport, employment, activities and our need to socialise, have fun and be happy - for some examples.

Resilience is important for a community - especially as fuel, energy, food and land prices steadily rise; in a difficult economy; and more crucially during "shock" events such as extreme weather and droughts, or disasters like floods and earthquakes for example.

Our town is full of people with skills, knowledge and even time - people just like you - who can network together towards this worthwhile goal of a brighter and more resilient future...
